Description:

The Safety and Training Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and promoting safe work practices and ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal quality standards, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems. This position will involve monitoring and coaching on job sites, assessing subcontractor safety and quality performance, conducting accident investigations, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, NEC, and project-specific electrical and quality standards. A background in electrical construction and a keen eye for quality assurance are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site safety and quality audits, particularly focusing on electrical systems and installations, ensuring compliance with OSHA, NEC, company standards, and project specifications.
  • Coach and mentor employees and subcontractors on safe work practices and quality workmanship, particularly in high-risk electrical tasks.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance procedures related to electrical construction.
  • Monitor electrical installations and testing to verify quality control, identify deviations or deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Train all levels of employees on safety procedures, electrical hazard awareness, quality assurance best practices, and regulatory compliance in both classroom and field settings.
  • Assist in accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and developing preventative measures specific to electrical work.
  • Monitor and report on subcontractor safety and quality performance, ensuring adherence to contract requirements and safety policies.
  • Maintain proper documentation for audits, inspections, corrective actions, and training records.
  • Collaborate with project management and field teams to ensure all QA/QC and safety goals are met or exceeded.
  • Manage the allocation and maintenance of safety equipment, PPE, and electrical testing equipment.

These duties are not all-inclusive and may change based on the priorities and ongoing needs of the company.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Electrical Construction Safety supervision, or 10+ years as a licensed electrician with proven leadership in safety and quality roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical quality assurance/quality control processes and documentation.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, NEC, and other applicable electrical and construction standards.
  • OSHA 30 is preferred; OSHA Training Certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days) is required.
  • Experience in conducting electrical inspections and safety audits on active construction sites.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead training and facilitate challenging discussions.
  • Highly organized, with strong time management, documentation, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with safety/QA tracking software.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving record requirements.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and government background check.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with teams across the job site.
  • Frequent physical activity including standing, walking, climbing, crawling, lifting (up to 60 lbs), kneeling, and operating hand/power tools and vehicles.
  • Capable of wearing all necessary safety gear, including hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, respirators, harnesses, and steel-toe boots.

Work Environment:

  • Frequent exposure to electrical systems, energized equipment, fumes, vibrations, and mechanical parts.
  • May involve working at heights and in confined spaces on active job sites.
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions; noise levels can be high.
  • Primarily field-based with some office and training room time.
